Data methodology and limitations

Sources

Only the public pricing page at the URL being tracked. We do not use leaked documents, login-only pages, sales quotes or third-party price lists.

Extraction and confidence

Each detected plan gets a confidence score based on whether a currency, amount and billing interval were found. A change is labelled a price change only at 0.8 confidence or higher; anything lower is recorded as a copy change.

What counts as history

A pricing history needs at least two verified observations on different dates. One snapshot is a data point, not a history, and we label it that way.

Public pricing data pages

Public company, category and comparison pages are only made indexable by search engines when the source is verified, the latest successful extraction is recent (within 45 days), confidence is high and the page has useful content. Category pages additionally need around eight verified companies plus written analysis. Until then such pages are hidden from search (noindex) or say “History is not available yet.”

Limitations

• Prices rendered only by JavaScript may be missed.
• Regional pricing may differ from what our fetcher sees.
• Taxes, discounts and negotiated prices are not visible on public pages.
• We never fill gaps with estimates.
