Competitor pricing analysis for SaaS: a step-by-step guide
A competitor pricing analysis answers one question: where does our price sit relative to the alternatives a buyer is weighing, and is that where we want it to be?

1. Build the comparison grid
List each competitor's plans in columns and the same attributes in rows: list price, billing interval, value metric (per seat, per usage, flat), included limits and key features.
2. Normalise prices
Convert everything to the same unit before comparing: monthly price per seat at a realistic team size, with annual discounts shown separately. The annual vs monthly calculator helps here.
3. Compare value metrics
Two products at the same price can charge for very different things. Note what each competitor charges for, and where buyers hit the next tier.
4. Map packaging
Which features sit in which tier? Packaging often matters more than the headline price, especially for the features your buyers care about most.
5. Look at change over time
A single snapshot shows positions; a history shows direction. A competitor that has raised prices twice in a year is telling you something a snapshot cannot.
6. Decide and document
Summarise where you are cheaper, comparable or more expensive per segment, what you will change, and what you will watch. Model the impact of any increase with the price increase calculator.
